Club Development

July 2007

Towards the back end of the 2006/07 season, the Eastenders Management Committee set up a sub-committee to deal specifically with Club Development.

The scope of the new four-man sub-committee – Dan Potts, Daniel Campbell, Andy Graham and Richard Lusmore – is to build on our current FA Charter Standard Adult Club status, in the process looking at all aspects of taking the Club forward both on and off the field.

The first area being examined is Junior Football.  Since the graduation of the former Under-16 team into the open-age ranks in 2005/06, the Club has been without any representation in this area.  To this end, since the New Year, Danny Campbell has been holding regular “Fun Football Coaching” sessions at Low Farm between 10am and 11.30am every Saturday morning, for children aged 12 and under.

Following a successful application to the East Riding County Football Association, we were also allocated membership of the 2007 School-Club Link Programme.  This has resulted in a very successful six-week stint at Easington CE (VC) Primary School, which will conclude on Friday, 3 August with a Festival prior to the Eastenders’ friendly against Hull City Juniors.  A Mixed team of under-10’s, pooled from this programme, are having their first taste of action at the McDonald’s Football Festival for Charter Standard Clubs at Hull University on Saturday, 21 July 2007.

It is then intended to resume the Programme in September at Patrington CE School.

The accompanying photographs were taken during the aforementioned sessions.  The first one, taken in May 2007, shows Danny and Club Welfare Officer, Christine Ward, with some of the regular Saturday morning attendees – Jordan, Chloe, Ashley, Rob, Jacob, Jake, Bradley, Jack, Jack and Jed.  The youngsters are wearing the new warm-up tops kindly sponsored by ABB Ltd.  The other shot was taken on 10 July 2007 and features some of those in attendance at the popular Tuesday after-school sessions.  The teacher pictured alongside Danny at the back is Fiona Kemp, standing in for PE Coordinator Janice Thompson.  Both photographs are courtesy of Dale Baxter.
